Female Leads in English Literature who need Psychiatric help
We all love fictional heroines, ultimate girl crushes, ideal heights, faces, Personalities , perfect guy who meets a perfect girl and they eventually have a perfect happily after *I know there are too many perfects* . Although there are quite a few great, legendary female leads who have made their impact on history *ehm ehm maybe Hermoine, Katniss , Annabeth and Elizabeth Bennet, the list goes on*; there are still quite a few who make me go "BAZOOKA".
The first female fictional character blessed to become part of this blog is none other then the legendary self centered and PTSD patient, Catherine Earnshaw/Linton from Wuthering heights. Throughout the novel, she is depicted as a free spirited soul and the wild child of the Earnshaws. Well how ideal isn't it, because seemingly these days she fits right into the category of a "QUIRKY" girl. However, as the story advances Catherine grows extremely selfish and narcissistic. She's torn to chose between her two lovers, Heathcliff and Linton. Although she loves Heathcliff she choose Linton well can you blame her ; the boy had the looks and money. Okay it's understandable that you would want to marry someone that would enhance your status BUT C'MON DON'T MAKE HIS LIFE MISERABLE?!Catherine spares no effort to torture her sweet and understanding husband along with her prior lover as well. Moreover, Catherine dies in the end, ruining the lives of basically everyone she encountered. So the crux of the Catherine is
"Catherine Becahri dukhoon ki mari, Heathcliff aye dukhoon se bechaye, aur akhir mein seedha upar ley jaye"
Juliet Capulet from Romeo and Juliet
Don't even get me started on how much this character annoys me*no offence*. Tell me one thing right about this character, she literally choose a creepy guy over her family, basically threw away her entire family who'd been by her side for 13 years for a guy she made eye contact with for 5 seconds. And to top it off, she married the creepy dude within a night. Most importantly, took her own life at such a young age. Well you can't blame her as it is said in a very famous song:
"Dil kya kare jab kisi ko kisi se pyaar ho jaye"
Clary Fairchild from Shadowhunters
my face when I read Shadowhunters
Before starting my long rant I want to dedicate a few verses to this IMMORTAL character from the MORTAL instruments :
"Clary Clary Clary
O Why don't you know
who to marry?"
The above verse says itself says a lot about Clary. Now before all of you come and pull out my hair (which are already few in number), I just want to say that Clary *in my opinion* was the most annoying, indecisive, dependent and confused female lead ever. Like she couldn't choose between Jace and Simon, while if you ask me if we were all given the choice, we would've obviously voted for Jace in a Heartbeat.
In conclusion, these are only myths and fictional characters, you like them or dislike them. However, life is not a fictional book so learn from our feisty female leads and try to be a better person by not making the same mistakes they did. And for these females I'd like to provide a link, please check it out:
