Me and My Childhood Fantasies (Harry Potter Version)

Sometimes you read a book and it fills you with this weird evangelical zeal, and you become convinced that the shattered world will never be put back together until, all living humans have read that book. That's the amazing and sensational feeling I had when I read Harry Potter for the first time.

To me it wasn't just ANY fictional book, it opened up a door to a whole new world.

The day I turned 11 I would wait outside our house for any sign of an owl with my Hogwarts acceptance letter, days were spent in endurance and persistence waiting for my Hogwarts Letter. I would sit near the window sill, and daydream about how it would be like to go shopping for my wizardly supplies in Diagon Alley. That was when I didn't know the truth of the world and my IQ was exceptionally low. The day I figured out that I wouldn't ever go to my dream school was *no exaggeration* one of the most gloomy days of my life. My mom helped me get over Hogwarts Phobia my promising that I could go to Hogwarts next year( she meant the WarnerBros. London Harry Potter Theme Park ). And I being the exceptionally intelligent person I was, agreed. Which reminds me that Mom you still haven't taken me to Harry Potter land😢

Days Passed, the seasons changed and those days eventually became years and Thank God my IQ improved. My dream to go to Hogwarts was eventually forgotten not because I was going through teen phobia but because I being the Potterhead I was remembered the wise words of Professor Dumbledore:
"It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live"

Only a few days back just when I thought that "WOW!What a mature person I've become." My little sister came to me * having currently read Harry Potter * and said "Ayesha when will I get my Hogwarts Letter?". *SIGH* I think something's wrong with my family. But being the helpful sister I am I decided to play "If I went to Hogwarts" with her. And to be very honest it was a fun experience. Not to mention the replies my sister gave to some of my inquiries,

me: Little one, what would be the first thing you'd do when you reach Hogwarts?
little one: Punch Malfoy in the face just like Hermoine did.
me: Would you be as smart as her?
little one: No, I was never cut out to be in Ravenclaw.

The point of this blog was that even when we grow up, sometimes
a trip down memory lane or some reminiscence of the past is all we need to help us with our difficult studies and growing problems as young adults.

Dedicated to all those small and big things that make our childhood bright and cheerful: worth being remembered again.

  1. I loved the use of "little one" when addressing your sister. It was hilarious. Well done 👍
