How to be successful in school without really trying
The reason you clicked on this blog, what was it? Feeling like it's time to finally accomplish your dreams of being that top student in class you always wanted to be or be the favorite of the entire class or be the most popular kid in school*cringe*. You came to the right place. Why? well because I've seen every City School Campus on the surface of the Earth. *STARTS SINGING THE GREAT, THE HISTORICAL ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK OF THE CITY SCHOOL*
" I am a citizen of the City Schoollllll
my motto is I am to learn " *APPLAUSE*
1. Give a good first impression of yourself
How do I say this...well let me give you an example. I switch schools a lot and I vividly remember when I had to come to this campus this year.....well I was not giving away the correct impression of myself. What I mean to say is that usually I'm a very loud and talkative person. However, when I came here everyone thought I was the shy, reserved girl who hates practically everyone deep down but doesn't show it. Not to mention I wasn't talking or engaging in conversations with anyone *facepalm*. Don't do this, on your first day don't pretend to be someone you aren't. Be who you are when you're alone in your room, just be yourself, actively engage in class. Oh! Not to mention also participate in class when the teacher asks questions and sit in the front row just to show everyone especially your new teachers the smart brain that's hiding somewhere in there. I know this can be tiring but come on, on the bright side during the 2nd week of school you can become a back bencher and reward yourself by trying to sleep at the back for all the active participation you showcased during your first week of the new year.
2. Figure out your people
You know what I mean in every class there are at least 4 groups. The parhaku group, the gossiping group, the hijabis... there are so many. You cannot find people who're exactly like you but you will , if you're lucky enough find people who at least like the same things as you do for example I found my Jamila try finding your Shanila as well who likes the same lame jokes as you. By the way Jamila is my best friend. But what happens if you don't find your ideal group of friends just remember this song:
"Akele hain tu kya ghaam hai
chahe tu hamarey buss mein
kya nahi"
It's okay not to be okay *PS:Watch the drama its really good, its on Netflix*
3. Try to be in the Teachers good books
Well this isn't that hard at all just take extra classes from the Teachers Pet. However, this does require a tensy wensy bit of effort. You'll have to do extra homework without whining or complaining, also when the teachers asks for homework which no one has done or when she forgets to collect the homework be like: " Ma'am aaj apne homework nahi lena? I've done all of it *INSERT INNOCENT PURE ANGELIC FACE WITH PUPPY EYES* ". Also , never I repeat never say no to tests ; even if you feel like you'll fail in it. On a more serious note, it's really easy to be in a teacher's good book, there's a simple mantra that is:
"Respect your teachers unconditionally to earn their respect"
Not so hard is it
4. Don't overly stress out
Lastly, life will never be like "High School Musical" there will be ups and downs. You will see a lot of letters on your report card, you will also have to put up with your moms chappals when she comes back home from THE PTM. There will also be people who won't like you, there will be peer pressure , there will be people more smarter than you, and last but not the least; teachers threatening to call your parents after every test. On top of that, you won't have time for things you enjoy. However, you must remember to not push yourself, stay healthy and not stress over little things like: "Why did she look at me like that? WITH SUCH VENOM IN HER EYES".
I hope after reading this blog y'all will become the people you wanted to be in school... well if school ever opens in the near future. How to be a pro on online classes is a topic for another blog until then enjoy life.
